Working principles
01
Preparation is protection.
The work that happens before the scene, in conversation, in mapping, in consent, is what makes the scene itself possible. Structure is not a constraint on creativity. It is what makes creativity safe.

Consent supports creativity.
When performers know their boundaries are held, they are freer, not more restricted. Intimacy coordination does not limit what can be told. It expands what performers are willing to bring to it.

Structure protects performance.
A clear choreographic framework gives performers something to work within and push against. Ambiguity on set breeds anxiety. Clarity breeds confidence, and confident performers give better performances.

The scene must serve the story.
Every decision about intimacy, what is shown, how it is choreographed, what it communicates, must be anchored in the narrative. Intimacy in service of truth serves everyone in the room.
